Crash on Off-ramp of I-15 in Escondido Kills One Person, Injures Three
ESCONDIDO, CA (September 4, 2019) – On Monday afternoon, a collision on I-15 involving two vehicles in Escondido killed one person and injured three others. The September 2 incident occurred on the off-ramp for Del Lago Boulevard, from the freeway’s southbound side.
The time was roughly 3:00 p.m., the Escondido Police Department said.
According to people who witnessed the incident, a vehicle—described as a Jaguar—left the freeway at a freeway speed of travel. It then went through a light that was red.
The Jaguar collided with another vehicle, described as a Toyota Avalon. The Toyota had been going down Del Lago Boulevard and heading west.
The force of the collision killed a person who had been traveling as a passenger in the Toyota, according to reports. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Toyota suffered injuries that were described as minor. Responders took the victim to a hospital. The driver was identified only as 43 years old. The name, gender, and city of residence of the driver has not been reported.
