Car Crashes into Tree in Escondido, Killing Passenger and Injuring Driver
ESCONDIDO, CA (January 12, 2021) – Early in the morning on Monday in Escondido, a car smashed into a tree; the passenger was killed and the driver suffered serious injuries. The January 11 incident occurred close to where La Terraza Boulevard and West Valley Parkway intersect, not far from I-15.
The time was roughly 2:45 a.m., according to Mark Petersen. Petersen is a lieutenant with Escondido Police.
A vehicle–described as a Honda sedan, white in color–had been traveling on West Valley Parkway and heading west. For reasons that are not known, the car went out of the driver’s control.
The Honda smashed into a tree. Responders arrived and transported the two patients to Palomar Medical Center.
The person who had been a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced deceased in the hospital. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the vehicle suffered injuries that were described as serious. Her current condition is not known. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are in the process of collecting details and information about the incident.
