Long Beach Cyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run; Incident On Atlantic Avenue
Long Beach, CA (January 20, 2025) – An 80-year-old cyclist, Enrique Barajas, was fatally injured in a hit-and-run crash on Monday afternoon, January 20, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Pleasant Street. Police reported that Barajas was riding his bicycle northbound on Atlantic Avenue when he merged into another lane. At that moment, a white SUV traveling in the same direction sideswiped him.

The suspect did not stop to try and give aid to Enrique Barajas, who sustained critical injuries. Mr. Barajas was later transported to a hospital where he died the following day. He was a Long Beach resident for many years.
