Vehicle Collides with Bicycle on Moonstone Court in Encinitas; Bicyclist Dies
ENCINITAS, CA (December 2, 2020) – Late in the morning on Saturday, a vehicle collided with a bicyclist in Encinitas. The bicyclist died from his injuries in the November 28 incident, which occurred on Moonstone Court.
The time was roughly 11:49 a.m., Eric Rader said. Rader is a deputy with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
A vehicle–which has not been described–was reported to have made a turn to the right, going from Leucadia Boulevard to Moonstone Court. The vehicle and the bicycle collided. The path of travel of the bicycle has not been described.
People in the area of the incident provided medical assistance to the injured man until responders arrived. Responders transported the patient to Scripps Memorial Hospital located in La Jolla.
The man died in the hospital. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The identity of the driver has also not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are in the process of gathering information and details regarding the incident.
