Van Stopped in Fast Lane of I-5 in Encinitas is Rear-ended; Two People Killed
ENCINITAS, CA (October 29, 2019) – Early in the morning on Sunday, a vehicle smashed into the back end of a van that was stopped in the fast lane of I-5 in Encinitas. Two people died in the October 27 incident, which occurred close to Leucadia.
The time was roughly 1:43 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a van, for reasons that are not known, came to a stop on I-5 in the fast lane. The van was then struck in the back-end by another vehicle. The van erupted in flames after being hit, witnessed are reported to have said.
Two people who had been traveling in the van died in the incident. The identities of the two victims, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence, have not been reported. It is not known who had been driving the van.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the van has not been identified, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in that vehicle—which has not been described—when the incident occurred. It is not known if anyone in that vehicle was hurt.
