Huntington Beach Fatal Hit-and-Run That Killed Kristen Bellovich Leads To Arrest
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (September 30, 2024) – Elias Madriz Gutierrez, 68, faces DUI and second-degree murder charges after a fatal hit-and-run involving a bicyclist near Beach Boulevard and Glencoe Drive on Monday. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, Gutierrez was arrested following the crash, which claimed the life of 51-year-old Kristin Bellovich.
Elias Gutierrez Decided To Flee The Scene of the Crime Leaving Kristin Bellovich To Die
Authorities say Gutierrez was driving a 2023 Ford Bronco when he struck Bellovich from behind, fatally injuring her. Rather than stopping to assist, Gutierrez fled the scene. Bellovich later died from her injuries.
Police located Gutierrez and took him into custody. Due to his two prior DUI convictions, prosecutors upgraded the charge from manslaughter to second-degree murder. He was booked into jail and now faces serious legal consequences.
