A car struck an election lawyer on L Street in Boston Wednesday evening. The lawyter was killed by the accident. He was 66 years old. His name was William A. McDermott and he was a close friend of US Representative Stephen F. Lynch. He released a statement grieving the loss of his lawyer friend and declaring the great help he had always been to him and his family.
The driver reported the accident at 7:30 that night. Police is investigating the scene and trying to piece together the event so that they can resolve the mystery and lack of details surrounding the accident.
So far, they know that the 2012 Range Rover that hit McDermott was not driven by a person under the influence and that the 33-year-old driver remained at the scene after the impact. No charges have been filed against him and the investigation is ongoing.
McDermott was a friend to many politicians and counseled numerous Democrats. He grew up in Savin Hill and earned his law degree at Suffolk University. He previously worked as a Boston election commissioner.
