San Diego Elderly Pedestrian Injured by Hit-and-run Driver on SR-94

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2021) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in San Diego, a hit-and-run driver struck and severely injured an elderly pedestrian. The May 19 incident occurred in the area of State Route 94 and Bancroft Drive.

The time was roughly a little before 6:00 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian had been crossing the Bancroft Drive on-ramp for the westbound side of SR-94 when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver left the scene and did not help the victim, reports say.

Responders arrived and transported the injured man to Sharp Memorial Hospital located in San Diego. The injuries he suffered were described as major.

His current condition is not known. He was identified only as 74 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the crash, and the suspect hit-and-run driver. Neither has been described.
