Pedestrian Struck and Killed on North Second Street in El Cajon
EL CAJON, CA (July 9, 2020) – In the afternoon on Wednesday in El Cajon, a pedestrian was struck and killed. The July 8 incident occurred on North Second Street in the 500 block.
The time was roughly 3:30 p.m., according to El Cajon Police.
Reports say the pedestrian was going across the street, and moving in between vehicles that were stopped. The pedestrian is alleged to have walked into the path of a vehicle–described as a Ford F-150 pickup truck–that was traveling with a green light, according to authorities. Jason Taub, who is a police lieutenant, said the truck hit the man.
Responders from Heartland Fire arrived and transported the patient to the hospital. The man died in the hospital. His identity–including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the truck at the time of the incident stayed on scene. The identity of the driver has also not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work of collecting details and information.
