Driver Fleeing Border Patrol Collides with Vehicle in El Cajon, Injuring Four
EL CAJON, CA (February 4, 2021) – Late in the afternoon on Wednesday, a driver fleeing from Border Patrol collided with a vehicle in El Cajon. The February 3 incident injured four people.
The time was roughly 5:00 p.m., Border Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Ford Mustang–was traveling on I-8 westbound. In an area near Campo, the car went through the checkpoint for the U.S. Border Patrol at a fast speed.
Border Patrol pursued the Mustang. The driver in the Mustang got off of I-8 at the exit for Main Street. The Mustang collided with a vehicle, which has not been described.
Border Patrol agents found two people in the Mustang’s trunk. They were reported to have entered illegally into the U.S. Two other people were traveling in the Mustang.
Responders transported the four patients to a hospital. The identities of the people have not been reported.
The person who was driving the vehicle that was struck was not injured in the crash, reports say. The identity of the driver, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
