El Cajon Crash on South Anza Street Kills Pedestrian
EL CAJON, CA (March 15, 2021) – On Friday night, a pedestrian was struck and killed in El Cajon. The March 12 incident occurred on South Anza Street at Gray Drive.
The time was roughly a little before 10:00 p.m., El Cajon Police said.
A pedestrian had been walking across South Anza Street toward his car that was parked nearby. A vehicle–described as an Infiniti sedan, gray in color–which had been heading north, struck him.
The force of the crash propelled the man roughly 180 feet from where the impact occurred, Jason Taub said. Taub is a lieutenant with El Cajon Police.
The Infiniti kept traveling north, according to Taub, and came to a stop when the Infiniti struck a vehicle that parked a few blocks from the first crash site.
Responders from Heartland Fire Department arrived on scene to help. The pedestrian died at the incident site. He was identified only as in his twenties. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the vehicle stayed at the incident site and cooperated with investigators. The driver’s identity has not been reported.
The identity of the owner of the parked vehicle that was struck has also not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand the incident by collecting information and details.
