Man Struck and Killed by Pickup Truck on 110 Fwy in LA
Los Angeles, CA (March 5, 2024) – Tragedy struck in the early hours of Tuesday morning on March 5, as Edgar Ortega lost his life in a fatal pedestrian accident in the Vermont-Vista area of South Los Angeles.
Edgar Ortega Struck By Pickup Truck At Manchester On Ramp
The incident occurred around 3:34 a.m. on the 110 Freeway at the Manchester Avenue on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Edgar Ortega was struck by a pickup truck while walking, causing him to be thrown onto the southbound lanes of the freeway.
Despite efforts to save him, Edgar Ortega succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The 33-year-old’s death was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Incident Shutdown 4 Lanes of the 110 Freeway
In response to the accident, CHP officials issued a SigAlert, closing four lanes of the southbound freeway to facilitate their investigation into the incident.
At this time, it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident is ongoing.
