A motorist was injured when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house in Granada Hills Monday morning, Feb. 26th. Los Angeles Fire Department were summoned to respond to the 17500 block of Minnehaha Street after dispatchers received reports of a vehicle that had gone through a home. According to authorities, the driver, a 41-year old resident of the neighborhood, lost control of his vehicle and drove into the garage of a house exiting out of a kitchen wall.
“We’re calling this a miracle on Minnehaha Street today. Only because high-rate-of-speed — driver was witnessed coming into a small cul-de-sac — no braking whatsoever, crossed the driveway, through a garage door, through the house and into the back side, which then caused extensive damage to the home,” said LAFD Battalion Chief Steve Ruda. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Luckily a neighbor, who was familiar with the woman who lived in the house, said that the woman was in a different room during the crash and didn’t suffer any injuries. The neighbor was relieved to see the woman exit her home shaken but unharmed. “I thought somebody was killed,” Anamaria said of first seeing the crash. “And the poor woman who lived there … I mean she was shook up.” Authorities say that the house will be red-tagged until structural engineers can assess the damage.
