According to authorities, a driver was killed when his speeding car careened off the I-5 near San Diego and was hit by a train.
The driver lost control of his 1997 Honda while trying to avoid a collision with another car Sunday night.
The Honda went flying of Interstate 5 and landed on the railroad tracks at San Onofre State Beach. Approximately 15 seconds later the car was hit by an Amtrak train.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Honda was traveling at more than 100 miles per hour and weaving in and out of traffic.
Luckily, none of the passengers on the train were injured.
The San Diego County medical examiner has tentatively concluded that the driver was 24 years old and from either Squaw Valley or Costa Mesa.
