Crash in Dehesa in Rural Area of San Diego County Kills Bicyclist
DEHESA, CA (February 12, 2021) – On Wednesday night in a rural area of San Diego County, to the east of El Cajon, a bicyclist was struck and killed. The February 10 incident occurred in Dehesa, on Willow Glen Drive and west of Dehesa Road.
The time was roughly 7:20 p.m., Travis Garrow said. Garrow is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The bicyclist had been heading east on the road, and a vehicle–described as an Infiniti QX60 SUV–which had also been heading east, struck him. The bicyclist was hit from behind.
The impact threw the bicyclist to the ground. The victim was not wearing a helmet when the incident occurred, reports say.
Responders arrived and pronounced the person deceased at the crash site. He was identified as a resident of La Mesa, 32 years old. His name has not been reported.
The person who was driving the vehicle stayed at the crash site. He was identified as a resident of El Cajon, 48 years old. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are working on the incident, and they are continuing to collect details and information.
