Deadly Crash on Freeway in Irvine Kills Jeremy Salisbury
IRVINE, CA (August 21, 2018) – Jeremy Salisbury was identified on Monday by the Orange County coroner’s office as the person who died in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver. Salisbury was a 31-year-old resident of Anaheim.
According to reports, the crash happened on the road that transitions from the 5 Freeway (also known as the Santa Ana Freeway) to the 405 Freeway (also known as the San Diego Freeway). The accident happened on the northbound side of the freeway, in the area where Irvine Spectrum is located, according to California Highway Patrol.
The Saturday accident happened a little before 12:50 a.m.
Adrian Marquez, a 29 year old resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, had been driving a 2001 Ford Explorer pickup truck and going at a high rate of speed, reports say. The pickup left the road and smashed into a heavy metal sign pole, according to the CHP report.
The passenger who was sitting on the seat in the front was not wearing a seatbelt. The impact from the crash threw him from the truck.
The victim was identified as Salisbury.
Responders took Marquez to Mission Regional Hospital. His injuries were characterized as major.
Authorities arrested him after determining he was driving under the influence.
