Modesto, CA (November 14, 2023) – The Modesto community is grappling with grief following a fatal pedestrian accident that claimed the life of Daniel Trevarthen on Thursday morning, November 9.
Daniel Trevarthen Was Struck Near Mono Drive By A White Chevy SUV
The tragic incident unfolded around 6:00 a.m. in the 300 block of Santa Cruz Avenue, near the intersection with Mono Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Trevarthen was struck by a white Chevrolet SUV while navigating the area.
First responders arrived to find Trevarthen lying unresponsive in the southbound lane of Santa Cruz Avenue. Despite life-saving efforts, the 64-year-old Modesto resident succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Daniel Trevarthen Was In A Wheel Chair With No Marked Crosswalk
Preliminary investigations by the CHP revealed that the white Chevrolet was traveling southbound on Santa Cruz Avenue, approaching Mono Drive at an undetermined speed.
Trevarthen, who was in a wheelchair, entered the intersection where no marked crosswalk was present. The Chevrolet, unable to avoid the collision, struck Trevarthen in the tragic incident.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to shed light on the circumstances leading to this heartbreaking loss.
