CULVER CITY, CA (June 27, 2018) – A hit-and-run driver crashed into the vehicle of a sergeant from the Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday morning, injuring her. The collision occurred at Bristol Parkway and West Centinela Avenue in Culver City.
The collision happened when a woman in a car stopped alongside the Los Angeles Police Department sergeant at a red light. The woman, who was trying to escape her boyfriend, tried to get the sergeant’s attention. While this was happening, a man rear-ended the sergeant’s cruiser. That impact shoved the sergeant’s vehicle into a concrete post, according to investigators.
The sergeant suffered broken bones. Reports indicate the sergeant is in stable condition.
The woman who was trying to escape her boyfriend was not harmed. The hit-and-run driver fled the scene. Officials believe the hit-and-run driver had been driving a silver Cadillac Escalade. An Escalade with severe damage was found abandoned in a Ladera Heights neighborhood.
Officers believe the suspect may be armed and dangerous. They are canvassing neighborhoods to locate the suspect.
