Escondido Crash Involving Teen Driver Kills One Person, Injures Three Other Teens
ESCONDIDO, CA (October 1, 2021) – Late at night on Wednesday in Escondido, a crash involving a teen driver killed one person and injured three other teens. The September 29 crash occurred on Valley Parkway, close to where Claudan Road is located.
The time was roughly 11:43 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Honda Prelude–had been heading on the road when, for reasons that are not known, the driver went to the right and off the roadway.
The car struck a curb, a tree, and a light pole, reports say.
Responders arrived from the Escondido Police Department, the Escondido Fire/Paramedics, and the California Highway Patrol to help.
Responders pronounced one passenger deceased at the crash site. He was identified only as 20 years old. His name has not been reported.
Responders transported the driver and two people who had been passengers to Palomar Medical Center for treatment. The patients were reported to have injuries that were described as major. Their current condition is not known.
Responders transported one passenger to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment. The patient also suffered injuries that were described as major. The current condition of the patient is not known.
The driver was identified as a boy who is a resident of Escondido, 17 years old. His name has not been reported.
One passenger was identified as a boy, 17 years old. Two other passengers were identified as men, 18 years old.
