COVINA, CA (July 20, 2018) – A man who had been operating a forklift at a construction site on the 10 Freeway in Covina died Friday morning.
The accident occurred a little before 9:40 a.m. near Via Verde Street.
The worker, who was described as a 20-year-old man from Redlands, had been operating a vehicle known as a telescopic forklift, California Highway Patrol says. The forklift operator was traveling east on a dirt road when the vehicle traveled down an embankment.
The victim was thrown from the forklift, and then the vehicle rolled on him.
Responders who arrived on scene pronounced the victim deceased at the accident scene. The man’s identity has not yet been reported.
Investigators do not think alcohol or drugs played a role. They are continuing to examine the details to determine what caused the accident.
