Three Vehicles Collide on Street in Costa Mesa, Injuring Five People
COSTA MESA, CA (January 22, 2019) – Three vehicles collided on city streets in Costa Mesa late in the evening on Saturday, injuring five people. The January 19 accident occurred close to where McCormack Lane and Fairview Road intersect.
The time was roughly 11:23 p.m., according to Sergeant Mike Manson.
Reports say that two of the vehicles involved in the collision may have been racing on the street. According to Manson, accounts from witnesses indicated the possibility. No details have been reported on the speed the vehicles were traveling prior to the collision.
It is not clear from reports how the sequence of events unfolded, and how the vehicles collided. Reports say that one of the vehicles overturned. Also mentioned is that a vehicle struck a sprinkler power box located in the median at the center of the road. Whether the same vehicle hit the power box and overturned is not clear.
Reports do not yet describe the types of vehicles involved in the collision. Five people suffered injuries that were described as moderate, and respondents took them to hospitals.
