3 Injured, 2-Car Accident Sends Car Crashing into Apartment in Costa Mesa
Costa Mesa, CA (April 20, 2024) – Three individuals sustained injuries in a two-car collision that resulted in one vehicle crashing into an apartment building at the intersection of Placentia Avenue and Center Street on Saturday afternoon.
The Honda Driver Failed To Yield The Right-Of-Way To the Mercedes Driver For Reasons Unknown
The incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m., involved a Honda sedan and a black Mercedes-Benz SUV. According to Costa Mesa police, the Honda driver, traveling west on Center Street, failed to yield the right of way to the southbound Mercedes-Benz SUV for reasons that remain unknown. The collision caused the Honda to broadside the Mercedes-Benz, propelling it into the southwest corner of the intersection and into the apartment building.
CMFD Arrived Promptly To Transport Victims To The Trauma Center
Costa Mesa Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene promptly and transported the male occupant of the Mercedes-Benz to a trauma center for treatment of moderate injuries. The Honda driver also sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while a tenant inside the apartment building reported minor wounds.
Following the incident, a licensed contractor assessed the damage and boarded up the affected apartment for safety precautions.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash and are investigating all possibilities.
