Wrong-way Crash Severely Injures Two People in Corona
CORONA, CA (November 20, 2018) – A wrong-way crash late in the afternoon on Friday in Corona seriously injured two people. The November 16 accident occurred on W. Sixth Street in the 1300 block.
The time was roughly 5:00 p.m.
According to reports, a person driving a Nissan was heading east and crossed into the lanes that head west. The Nissan struck a vehicle, described as a Kia SUV, that had been traveling west.
The person who had been driving the Nissan—identified as a man 45 years old and a resident of Corona—was thrown from the vehicle, Lieutenant Paul Mercado said.
The person who had been driving the Kia SUV was identified as a man 83 years old and a resident of San Bernardino. Responders took both of the victims to Riverside Community Hospital. It has not yet been reported what the injuries were that the victims suffered.
According to Mercado, police do not think that impairment played a role in the crash. Police closed Sixth Street between Smith Avenue and Sherman Avenue for a few hours.
