Woman Killed in Hit-and-run Crash on Alondra Boulevard in Compton
COMPTON, CA (May 7, 2019) – A woman was killed Monday night in Compton after her vehicle was struck by a hit-and-run driver who then ran away from the accident site. The May 6 incident occurred where Alondra Boulevard and South Bullis Road intersect.
The time was roughly 8:50 p.m., according to Danny Martinez. Martinez is a sergeant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Reports say the woman had been heading east on Alondra Boulevard in a vehicle described as a Nissan. A vehicle, which was described as a Mitsubishi, had been traveling south on South Bullis Road. According to Martinez, the vehicles collided where the two streets intersect.
Martinez indicated that the person who had been driving the Mitsubishi—identified as a man—may have failed to stop at the stop sign and drove through it before the collision occurred.
The driver of the Mitsubishi ran away from the accident site. The woman in the Nissan was trapped in her vehicle. Respondents worked to extricate the woman, but she died at the scene of the incident. The woman’s name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The man who had been driving the Mitsubishi has not been described or identified in reports. According to Martinez, the man could face charges such as vehicular manslaughter or felony hit-and-run.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the details regarding the crash.
