Victim of Attempted Carjacking in Compton Shoots Suspect Before Vehicle Strikes; Suspect Dies
COMPTON, CA (December 1, 2020) – On Sunday night, the victim of an attempted carjacking in Compton shot the suspect before a vehicle struck the suspect. The November 29 fatal incident occurred where Santa Fe Avenue and Compton Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 8:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies arrived on scene and found a man down on the road. He was pronounced deceased at the site of the incident.
Reports say the man had been shot, and a vehicle had hit him. The man’s identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to reports, authorities think the man had attempted a carjacking of a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection and waiting for a red light. Reports say the man who died had a handgun.
The victim of the attempted carjacking shot the suspect. The person who shot the man remained at the incident site and cooperated with investigators, according to Lt. Alfred, who is with the Sheriff’s Department. The identity of the person has not been reported.
Investigators do not know if more than one vehicle hit the suspect. The driver or drivers did not stay at the incident site. Investigators do not know if the suspect died from the gunshot wound, or the impact from the crash.
