Man Walking across Colton Intersection is Struck and Killed
COLTON, CA (January 11, 2019) – A man who was walking across an intersection in Colton in the evening on Wednesday was struck and killed. The January 9 accident occurred where Cypress Avenue and Valley Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 11:05 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say that the man—identified as a 57 year old—had been traveling on foot across the intersection. A vehicle—described as a Cadillac CTS-V, which was traveling on Valley Boulevard heading east—hit him. California Highway Patrol says the vehicle was going roughly 45 to 50 miles per hour.
Respondents arrived on scene and transported the victim to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he later died. His name has not yet been reported.
The person who was driving the vehicle—identified as a man 39 years old and a resident of Menifee—was not arrested. The California Highway Patrol said that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident. The driver’s name has not yet been reported.
Investigators are examining the details to find out why the accident happened.
