Driver Suspected of Trying to Hit People Crashes into Vehicle in City of Industry
CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA (June 22, 2020) – A driver who is suspected of purposely trying to hit people in Pico Rivera collided with a vehicle in the City of Industry on Sunday. The June 22 crash occurred on Workman Mill Road.
The incident began at roughly 2:15 p.m., Jorge Marchena said. Marchena is a lieutenant in the Pico Rivera station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Reports say calls were made to authorities to report a man–described as in his 30s–who was involved in an altercation that had become physical in the Pico Rivera area. According to Marchena, the man attempted to run people over with his vehicle. He fled the incident site when deputies arrived.
The man drove from the scene with deputies in pursuit. The pursuit went into the City of Industry, and a patrol vehicle collided with another vehicle, which has not been described.
Authorities ceased pursuit of the suspect vehicle. Reports say no one was injured in the collision with the patrol vehicle. It is not known from reports who had been in the other vehicle.
Some time later, the vehicle the suspect was driving collided with a truck on Workman Mill Road. Responders arrived and transported four people who had been traveling in the truck to the hospital.
The types of injuries the four people suffered are not known. Their identities have not been reported.
Authorities arrested the suspect driver. The identity of the person has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work of collecting information regarding the incident.
