Chula Vista Head-on Crash on Palomar Street Injures Five People
CHULA VISTA, CA (February 18, 2021) – Late in the afternoon on Wednesday in Chula Vista, a head-on collision injured five people. The February 17 crash occurred in the area of Otay Ranch, on Palomar Street where Santa Olivia Road intersects.
The time was roughly a little before 5:30 p.m., Chula Vista Police said.
According to police, a vehicle–described as a BMW SUV–had been heading west on Palomar Street at a fast speed. It struck several other vehicles, reports say. None of the other vehicles involved in the incident have been described.
Responders from Chula Vista Fire Department worked to rescue patients from wrecked vehicles. Responders transported three people to trauma centers in the area.
Two other people declined transport to a hospital, reports say.
The people involved in the crash have not been identified, and it is not known who had been driving each vehicle. The types of injuries they suffered have not been described. Reports say the injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Investigators are working to understand the circumstances of the crash. They are collecting information regarding the incident, and examining the details.
