Driver Suffering Medical Emergency Crashes into Residence in Chula Vista; Dies in Hospital
CHULA VISTA, CA (September 25, 2019) – On Tuesday afternoon, a driver who was suffering from a medical emergency crashed into a residence in Chula Vista, and later died. The September 24 incident occurred on Fifth Avenue in the 900 block.
The time was roughly 1:00 p.m., police said.
Reports say the driver—identified only as a man 66 years old—had been traveling north in a Toyota Tacoma. The vehicle went out of the man’s control, veered over the lane traveling south, went onto the sidewalk, and then hit a fence. The truck also hit two vehicles that were parked in the house’s driveway.
Responders arrived and discovered that the driver was not conscious and not responsive. Responders transported him to a hospital, where he died. Reports say the man had a medical condition, which has not been reported. The man’s name has also not been reported.
The owners of the home that was struck have not been identified. Investigators are continuing to work on collecting information about the incident.
