Woman is Run Over and Injured by Thieves Stealing $10,000 Bike from Chino Bike Store
CHINO, CA (February 14, 2019) – Megan Rodriguez was run over and injured by thieves suspected of stealing a $10,000 bike from a bike store she manages in Chino. The February 13 accident occurred at Incycle Chino, a bike store located at 2345 Mountain Avenue.
The time was roughly 4:15 p.m.
Reports say that two suspects—identified as male—entered the store, grabbed a $10,000 bicycle, and tossed it into the rear of a vehicle described as a GMC Sierra truck. The person driving the truck was identified as female. The suspects then attempted to flee.
Rodriguez, who is the manager of the store, and another employee—identified as Raul Ureno, the store mechanic—chased after the thieves. While outside, Rodriguez grabbed the truck the suspects were riding in and tried to retrieve the bike. She was run over by the suspects’ vehicle.
According to authorities, Rodriguez was critically hurt, including a broken hip, foot, ribs, and a skull fracture. Respondents took Rodriguez to the hospital in serious condition.
Ureno and a customer then chased after the suspects in a car. Reports say that when the truck had to stop in traffic on Central Avenue, Ureno tried to knock out the windows of the suspects’ vehicle. He also grabbed the bike from the truck’s back end.
While conducting the investigation, authorities found surveillance footage of the suspects at the San Dimas location of the bike store. They were looking at bicycles prior to the robbery at the Chino store.
Surveillance video captured the incident at the Chino store. Police say the suspects face charges that include hit-and-run, robbery, and attempted murder. The owner of the store, identified as Dominic Galenti, has offered a reward of $10,000 to anyone who has information that leads to the suspects’ arrest.
One of the suspects may be a white male, according to police, perhaps in his twenties. He is described as roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall, 190 pounds, with a full beard. The second man may be white or Hispanic, and in his twenties. He is described as roughly 5 feet 11 inches tall, 165 pounds. The woman driving the vehicle is possibly white, thin, and short. She has hair that is light in color. The vehicle they were traveling in is a GMC Sierra truck, glue-gray in color. A black paper plate was in the back. The truck has chrome on the sides, handles, and mirrors. The year of the truck may be 2008.
