Car Erupts in Flames After Crashing into Tree in Chino; Teen Driver Dies
CHINO, CA (December 15, 2020) – On Monday night in Chino, a teen driver was killed in a crash on Central Avenue. The December 15 incident occurred in the 13400 block.
The time was roughly 8:30 p.m., according to Chino Police.
A vehicle–which has not been described–smashed into a tree for reasons that are not known. Responders arrived on site and found the car was completely on fire.
One person who had been traveling in the vehicle was found on the sidewalk. Three other people remained in the car, according to Lieutenant Kelliher, who is with Chino Police.
Police were able to pull two of the occupants from the burning car. The driver, however, was trapped inside the car. She died at the crash site.
She was identified only as a resident of Chino, 18 years old. Her name has not been reported.
Responders transported one patient to the hospital. The person’s condition was described as critical.
The condition of two other patients was described as stable. The passengers were identified as a woman 19 years old who is a resident of Corona; a woman 20 years old who is a resident of Chino; and a man who is 19 years old who is a resident of Chino Hills.
Their names have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened.
