China’s Gold Mine Landslide Caused 3 More Deaths

China’s gold mine landslide has caused an increasing number of individuals to die. The death toll has now reached 21. 62 people are still missing currently. The mine is owned by a fraction of China National Gold Group and is located in Tibet. The accident originally occurred on March 29.
The copper mine in Maizhokunggar County is near the regional capital. Around 6 a.m., a major landslide smashed into the worker’s camp. 83 workers were buried in the onslaught of the landslide. An investigation is ongoing into the cause of this incident.
There were already 3 deaths at another mine, near the eastern province of Fujian.
China is known for having the world’s worst safety record regarding its coal mines. 1,973 people were killed in 2011. China Gold International Resources Corp. has not answered for the accident and shares of the company have fallen up to 15 percent since yesterday in cities like Toronto in Canada.
About 2 million cubic meters of rock and earth was dragged loose when the landslide occurred. More than 3,000 soldiers have helped in the rescue efforts. The rest of the workload has been left to non-human help such as construction machinery that has tried to locate the buried miners and rescue them before it is too late.
