Vehicle Hits and Injures Pedestrian in Casa De Oro-Mount Helix Area

CASA DE ORO – MOUNT HELIX, CA (February 21, 2019) – A vehicle struck and injured a pedestrian in the Casa De Oro – Mount Helix area of San Diego County early Tuesday morning. The February 19 accident occurred close to where South Granada Avenue and Campo Road intersect.

The time was roughly 5:45 a.m., according to Travis Garrow. Garrow is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.

Reports say a man—identified as 71 years old—was trying to walk across South Granada Avenue. A vehicle—described as a Volkswagen Passat—that was traveling north hit him, according to Garrow. The driver was identified as a man 43 years old.

Respondents arrived and transported the victim to San Diego’s Sharp Memorial Hospital. The injuries the victim suffered were described as moderate to major. The man’s name and city of residence have not yet been reported. His current condition is not known.

Garrow said that the man who had been driving the vehicle stayed at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. The driver’s name and city of residence have not been reported.
