Ventura County Supervisor, is Struck and Killed in Oxnard, CA
OXNARD, CA (August 15, 2022) – Early in the evening on Friday in Oxnard, a vehicle struck and killed Ventura County Supervisor Carmen Ramirez. The August 12 crash occurred close to where South A Street and West Seventh Street intersect in downtown.
The time was roughly 6:40 p.m., Oxnard Police said.
Reports say Ramirez had been walking in a crosswalk when a vehicle–described as a GMC Sierra pickup truck–hit her.
Responders transported Ramirez to a hospital in the area. She died in the hospital.
Ramirez was 73 years old. She was the chair of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.
The driver was identified only as 38 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call Andrew Pinkstaff, who is a corporal with Oxnard Police.
