Vehicle Overturns on I-5 in Carlsbad, Trapping Driver
CARLSBAD, CA (January 22, 2021) – On Thursday morning in Carlsbad, a vehicle overturned, trapping the driver inside. The January 21 incident occurred on I-5 on the southbound side of the freeway, near Cannon Road, and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 8:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
For reasons that are not known, the vehicle rolled over and came to a stop upright. The vehicle was wedged next to the guardrail on the driver’s side.
Responders arrived and worked to free the driver from the damaged vehicle. She was transported to the hospital.
The driver suffered injuries that were described as major. The type of injuries she suffered, and her current condition, are not known. Her identity has not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and if any other vehicle was involved in the incident. They are in the process of collecting information and details.
