Carlsbad Hit-and-run Crash on Circulo Sequoia Injures Bicyclist
CARLSBAD, CA (February 1, 2021) – On Sunday morning in Carlsbad, a bicyclist was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver. The January 31 incident occurred on Circulo Sequoia in the 7600 block.
The time was roughly 10:30 a.m., Carlsbad Police said.
According to police, a witness said a Cadillac, black in color, left the site after the collision happened. Responders arrived and found the victim down on the road.
Responders transported the patient to Palomar Medical Center. The types of injuries she suffered were described as serious. Her current condition is not known.
She was identified as 65 years old, and a resident of Arizona. Her name has not been reported.
Authorities searched for and located the Cadillac that was suspected in the crash. They arrested the suspect driver. He faces charges that include driving under the influence with injuries, and felony hit-and-run with injuries, reports say.
The driver was identified as John Hutchinson, 26 years old.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
