Car Strikes and Kills Escondido Woman Walking across Street with Boy after Colliding with Vehicle
ESCONDIDO, CA (October 14, 2021) – Early in the afternoon on Tuesday in Escondido, a car struck and killed a woman who was walking across the street with a boy. The car struck the woman moments after colliding with a vehicle in the October 12 crash.
The time was roughly 12:30 p.m., Escondido Police said.
A vehicle–described as a Nissan Titan pickup truck–had been heading west on Washington Avenue. Reports say the pickup went through a light that was red and collided with a vehicle–described as a Ford Fusion–which had been going north on Rose Street.
The force of the crash sent one of the vehicle into the two pedestrians–the woman and the boy–who were going across Washington Avenue, according to Kevin Toth. Toth is a lieutenant with Escondido Police.
Responders transported the two pedestrians to Palomar Medical Center. The woman was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
She was identified only as 45 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
The types of injuries the boy suffered have not been described. He was identified as seven years old.
Neither driver involved in the crash between the two vehicles has been identified in reports. It is not clear from reports which vehicle struck the woman and the boy.
