In an accident in Hawthorn, three people were injured when a car hit a fire hydrant after a previous accident. Two cars were involved in the accident at El Segundo and Prairie Avenue.
One of the cars hit a traffic-signal pole before it hit the fire hydrant. The traffic lights were out due to a power outage.
One person had to be removed from his car.
The condition of the other people is unknown.
A tower of water shot up when the fire hydrant was hit.
City workers had to be notified to turn off the water to keep it from hitting power lines.
