Car chase leads to standoff, suspect arrested by SWAT

Posted on April 13, 2014 | Written By: iadminlaw

A car chase ended after a multi-hour standoff with police Saturday. The standoff ended with the suspect arrested by SWAT.

The incident began at 2:40 a.m. when officers spotted a stolen Chevrolet Tahoe whose driver may have been involved in a nearby shooting. The incident started at the intersection of South Vermont Ave. and West 79 St., said Los Angeles police Sgt. C. Meisner in an interview with the Los Angeles Daily News.

When officers stopped the car, the driver fled. Two other males who were in the vehicle at the time were arrested, Meisner said in an interview with the Los Angeles Daily News.

Officers followed the fleeing man, who broke into one house and then ran into a second one in the 300 block of West 112th St.

SWAT officers were brought in after police failed to remove the suspect from the home. Officers believed the suspect was not alone in the residence.

Police did not release details about how the arrest was made.
