Pedestrian Injured, Her Dog Killed After Vehicle Hits Them in Buellton
BUELLTON, CA (May 8, 2020) – On Thursday night, a pedestrian was seriously injured and her dog was killed when a vehicle struck them in Buellton. The May 7 incident occurred on Highway 246 near where Sycamore Drive is located.
The time was roughly 8:20 p.m., Daniel Bertucelli said. Bertucelli is a captain with Santa Barbara County Fire.
Reports say the woman had been walking with her dog when a vehicle hit them. It is not clear from reports exactly where the two had been walking when the incident occurred, whether they were crossing the street or walking alongside it.
Responders arrived and found the dog was deceased at the incident site. The woman suffered injuries that were described as major. Responders transported her by airlift to a hospital.
Her current condition is not known. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The vehicle involved in the incident has not been described, and the identity of the driver has not been reported.
The dog’s name has also not been reported.
