BONSALL, CA (July 2, 2018) – A collision on Highway 76 at Thoroughbred Lane on Monday afternoon caused one vehicle to burst into flames, and killed one man.
The accident occurred around 3:47 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses say that two cars were traveling on Highway 76, headed west on this section of highway that is known as Mission Boulevard. As the vehicles were traveling, witnesses say, one of the vehicles clipped the other vehicle. After being clipped, one of the vehicles veered off the road and down into a ditch. The vehicle that was in the ditch then struck a concrete structure that was a storm culvert. The vehicle then caught fire, burst into flames, and also burned plants nearby.
Firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident, and within 10 minutes, they had put the fire out. The driver, however, died. The report does not yet disclose the identity of the victim who died.
Investigators are examining this crash to determine causes.
