House in Bell Struck by Vehicle as Driver Flees Officers
BELL, CA (January 20, 2021) – Early in the morning on Tuesday, a house in Bell was damaged when a driver, who was fleeing from officers, crashed into it. The January 19 incident occurred in the vicinity of the Brompton Avenue and King Avenue intersection.
The time was a little after 2:00 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers began to pursue the vehicle in Paramount, on Rosecrans Avenue close to the 710 Freeway. According to reports, officers attempted to make a traffic stop for the vehicle–described as a Nissan Altima–as the driver is alleged to have been speeding.
The driver did not comply, reports say, and entered the 710 Freeway heading north. The Nissan left the freeway and, near the Brompton Avenue and King Avenue intersection, it went out of the driver’s control.
The Nissan crashed into a fence, coming to a stop inside the living room of a house.
Officers arrested the driver, who was identified only as female. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The owners of the house have not been identified. It is not known if anyone was inside the house when it was struck. The extent of damage to the house has also not been reported.
Reports do not say if anyone was hurt in the crash.
Investigators are working to collect information regarding the incident.
