A Half Moon Bay man caught spying on a couple while they were engaged in “intimate relations” in their bedroom appeared in court Friday to face charges of being a Peeping Tom.

Gilberto Mendoza Flores, 33, was caught peeking between the shutters of a Half Moon Bay home in May while a couple in their early 30s enjoyed a romantic moment at 5:40 a.m.
The male victim heard Flores apparently pleasuring himself at the window with his pants around his ankles and yelled at Flores. Flores pulled up his pants and fled the scene as the couple dialed police.
San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies quickly responded to the home, saw Flores in the area and chased him over fences and through backyards. Flores was eventually found lying on his stomach, trying to hide from police.
Flores, who was convicted of indecent exposure in 2010, faces charges of felony public exposure and peeping. He remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail. Flores will return to court this month.
