Bakersfield Crash Involving Overturned SUV Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured

One Dead, Two Injured in South Bakersfield 2 Vehicle Collision
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 10, 2025) — One man is dead and two others injured following a two-vehicle collision Saturday night in South Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The deadly crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Hughes Lane and Holden Way. Officers arrived at the scene to find an SUV overturned, with a man pinned beneath the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Passenger In The SUV Sustained Minor Injuries
A second man, who was a passenger in the SUV, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle involved was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Preliminary findings from police detectives indicate that the SUV was traveling southbound on Hughes Lane when its driver attempted to make a left turn onto Holden Way. During the turn, the SUV crossed into the path of a northbound vehicle, resulting in a broadside collision that caused the SUV to overturn. Investigators believe the deceased man was ejected during the crash.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the collision is ongoing. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
