Bakersfield, CA – Vehicle Traveling Wrong Way on Highway 99 Kills One Person

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 15, 2018) – A vehicle traveling the wrong way on Highway 99 in Bakersfield crashed Sunday morning. One person died.
The accident occurred in the lanes heading northbound on Highway 99, a little bit south of Merle Haggard Drive. The time was roughly 4:44 a.m.
A Honda CRV, described as black, was heading south in the lanes of Highway 99 that go north, California Highway Patrol says. As it was traveling the wrong way, the Honda collided with a white bobtail truck.
Responders arrived at the scene of the accident to provide help. They found one person in the Honda who was not conscious. Rescuers administered medical help to save the victim’s life, but the person was not responsive. The victim was pronounced deceased at the crash site.
Personnel from the coroner’s office was summoned to perform an investigation.
The early report of the accident does not provide information about the identity of the person who died, or other details about the collision.
