School Bus with Students Aboard Crashes in Bakersfield; No Serious Injuries Reported

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 1, 2019) – A school bus with students aboard crashed in Bakersfield in the morning on Wednesday. The February 27 accident occurred on Stockdale Highway close to Buena Vista Road.

The time was roughly 8:00 a.m.

Reports say that a bus from Bakersfield Christian High School had twenty students aboard at the time of the accident. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver had been traveling west on Stockdale Highway when the vehicle went out of her control. The bus swerved across the divider in the center of the road, and traveled into the lanes that head east. The bus then hit a light pole.

Robert Rodriguez, who is an officer with the California Highway Patrol, said no one suffered serious injuries in the accident. According to Rodriguez, no one was in the lanes that head east when the bus went over.

Two students who had been on the bus complained of pain, Rodriguez said, but they were not taken to the hospital. It is not known from reports if anyone suffered injuries of any kind, and what those injuries may be. The identities of the students have not been reported. The identity of the bus driver has also not been reported.

Reports say the road was wet when the crash occurred. Investigators are looking into the details to find out what caused the crash. It is not known if the road condition was a factor in contributing to the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
