BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 2, 2018) – A person died Wednesday afternoon on Highway 65 in Bakersfield when a pickup truck and a FedEx big rig collided head on.
The crash occurred close to James Road. The person who died had been driving the pick up truck.
Sgt. Kelly Olson of the California Highway Patrol said a pickup truck, that had been heading north, crossed over the center line. The pickup drifted into the line of travel of a FedEx big rig. The two vehicles crashed head on.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries that were described as fatal. Olson said that the person driving the FedEx semi was not injured.
The identity of the pickup driver has not yet been released. No other details were available at the time of the report.
Investigators are continuing to examine the details of the crash to determine its causes.
