Man Identified as Victim Killed in Crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 30, 2019) – Javier Sanchez was identified by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office as the victim who died on Sunday night in a crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield. The October 27 incident occurred near Copus Road and to the north of it.
The time was roughly a little before 10:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say Sanchez had been traveling as passenger at the time of the incident. The vehicle Sanchez had been riding in was heading south when it went onto the highway’s shoulder, for reasons that are not known.
Reports say the driver over corrected, and went across two traffic lanes. The vehicle collided with a truck.
Sanchez was killed in the incident. He was 50 years old.
The person who had been driving the vehicle that Sanchez had been riding in has not been identified, including name, age, and city of residence. It is not known if the driver was injured in the incident.
The person who had been driving the truck involved in the incident has not been identified.
Investigators are continuing to work on collecting details and information regarding the crash.
