Four Children Injured in Hit-and-run Crash on Cottonwood Road in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 8, 2020) – Four children were injured when a hit-and-run driver collided with the vehicle they were traveling in on Cottonwood Road in Bakersfield. The January 7 incident occurred where East Pacheco Road intersects.

The time was roughly 3:34 a.m., according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Reports say a vehicle—which has not been described—had been traveling southbound on Cottonwood Road. Another vehicle—which has also not been described—was traveling on East Pacheco Road and collided with the other vehicle.

The person who had been driving the vehicle on East Pacheco Road is reported to have run from the incident site. The driver has not been described.

Responders arrived and transported four children who had been in the vehicle that was traveling on Cottonwood Road to a hospital. The injuries the children suffered were described as moderate to major. The ages and gender of the children have not been reported.

The person who had been driving the vehicle in which the children were passengers was identified only as a man. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported. Reports say the man was not hurt in the incident.

The vehicle in which the victims had been traveling was subsequently struck by another vehicle which had been heading southbound on Cottonwood Road. The driver of that vehicle stayed at the incident site and cooperated with investigators.

The third vehicle has not been described, and the driver has not been identified in reports.

Investigators are searching for the suspected hit-and-run driver. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call Bakersfield Police. The number is 327-7111.
