Driver Veers Off Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield, Strikes Power Pole
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 18, 2019) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a vehicle went off the road on Stockdale Highway, struck a power pole, and knocked down power lines. The July 17 incident occurred in an area near Nord Avenue, and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 2:55 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say the driver—identified as Dhanakrit Mann, 25 years old and a resident of Stockton—had been traveling westbound on Stockdale Highway. According to reports, Mann made a turn and swerved off the roadway.
The vehicle Mann was driving struck a power pole, and knocked power lines to the ground. According to reports, Mann suffered injuries that were described as minor. Reports do not say if responders took him to a hospital.
It is not clear from the report what caused the crash, and if anyone else was injured. It is not known if Mann had been the sole occupant of the vehicle when it struck the pole.
Crews from PG&E responded to the scene to repair the damage to the power pole and lines. Investigators are continuing their search into the details and information to understand what contributed to the incident.
